When you can’t decide between an up and a down, and the thought of standing in a two-hour brunch queue makes you feel all sorts of sideways, then the East Village offers a solution to all of the above. Amor y Amargo’s “Double Buzz” takes craft-roasted, single-origin coffee, introduces it to one of the bar’s excellent amari, or bitters, stirs in just enough other components to balance the blend, and sets it down in a glass with enough weight to ground your day. Coffee, amaro; up, down; caffeine, alcohol; courtesy and quiet. It’s enough to make the most world-weary New Yorker grateful for the day.
