There’s a seasonal advantage to being at Amor y Amaro. If there are bartenders and cocktail-lovers in your life, then you can do some holiday shopping in a crowd- and pressure-free environment. The window is stocked with bitters, hard-to-find drink components, and well-chosen bar kits, including a rack of finger-friendly muddlers and Hella Bitter’s DIY bitters kit. Facing the bar are rows of shelves bearing bitters, gold-plated jiggers, crystal jugs, and more greed-inducing items than rival many a larger shop. Bring plastic, enjoy a late breakfast and a cocktail, and take care of a holiday errand. Then pick something for yourself. It is the weekend, after all, and there you are, getting errands done. That might even deserve another drink!

Good news for Brooklynites; the Double Buzz is coming to Dram, in Williamsburg. Amanda Whitt has been there, setting up a Double Buzz program in another borough. If New Yorkers are very fortunate, the Buzz will spread, and there will be ups and downs – but not a single sideways – not even a train ride away.
