Drink Astoria: Exploring Astoria's Best Bars with Emily Ross-Johnson of the Astoria Whiskey Society |
“I really like the Sparrow Tavern,” Ross-Johnson says. “It’s directly across from the Bohemian Beer Garden, so if you’re not into the Beer Garden for whatever reason, or it’s too cold, that’s a great option.” At the Sparrow Tavern, pair your drinks with “amazing tater tots” – house-made, of course. As Ross-Johnson describes the helpful servers, relaxing ambience, and substantial whiskey selection, the Sparrow Tavern becomes a very tempting place to nest, eat and drink. “It’s one of my favorites,” she says. “It’s a place I’ve gone since I moved to Astoria.” That racks up to four years of loyal patronage – not an easy thing to earn from someone who makes a lifestyle of food and drink.
