Uncouth Vermouth Brings Hyperlocal Production to Red Hook |
Uncouth Vermouth is a change for Red Hook. When Bianca Miraglia moved into the space that is now Uncouth Vermouth’s spotless production space and artful tasting room, she took over what had been a rowdy biker bar.
One of the neighbors greeted the slim blonde with a shouted, “Oh, no – You’re not opening another bar in here!” It would be hard to fault the resistance. The biker bar had enriched the neighborhood complete with brawls, visits from the police and noise that went on until four AM.
“No, I’m not,” Miraglia replied, “You’re right.”
“Oh, I’m so sorry,” the neighbor said. “What are you doing?”
“I make vermouth,” Miraglia said. “I really would be very surprised if you heard me, ever.”
The neighbors, of course, are thrilled. Over their year in the new space, Uncouth Vermouth became part of a community.
