3) The Hot Liqueur: Maraschino
Hemingway Daiquiris are probably this summer’s ubiquitous cocktail (a la last year’s Pimm’s Cup) and its surprise star is the much maligned maraschino liqueur. Unlike those stop-sign-red jarred cherries, the good stuff can offer a fruity dash without tasting like cough syrup and it’s finding its way through the cocktail menu. It also shows off its versatility in the again-popular gin-based drink The Last Word.
