5 Can't Miss Brunch Cocktails in New York
Brunch, for those leisurely days when it doesn't even matter if it's breakfast or it's lunch. Hence, best served with a side of booze. Or, more realistically, booze served with a side of eggs?
DIY Prosecco Bar
Sotto 13 (140 W 13th St., 212-647-1001)
They call it a "social brunch" but we call it fun. Get a tray of mixers like liqueurs, juices, candied ginger and fresh fruit for $20, as for the prosecco to mix it with? Unlimited by the glass with the $29 all-you-can-drink brunch with plenty of food, or you can order a bottle.
The Snapper
King Cole Bar (2 E 55th St.; 212-339-6857)
There are plenty of people vying for the title of Best Bloody Mary in New York but there's an undisputed winner for the title of First Bloody Mary and that's the King Cole Bar. For $22, it's certainly no longer at 1934 prices (when it was invented as the Red Snapper) but sip on history and complementary corn nuts.
Aperol Spritz
Walter Foods (253 Grand St., Brooklyn; 718-387-8783)
This Italian staple is a little harder to find this side of the Atlantic but this Brooklyn institution with two locations offers a classic take on the prosecco, Aperol (think a sweeter Campari) and citrusy drink. Mimosa, move over.
Bellini
Bubby's (120 Hudson St.; 212-219-0666)
The waits are long and the prices are steep ($13, yikes!) but for a cannot-miss take on all those classic brunch foods and drinks, this Tribeca standby is worth your time. We're not people who would ever dream of saying, "Remember that grapefruit (with caramelized sugar on top)? It was so good," but Bubby's inspires those sorts of statements.
Unlimited Cocktails
Yerba Buena (23 Avenue A, 212-529-2919)
Get an hour of all-you-can-drink margaritas, mimosas, sangria and the bubbly, refreshing YB cocktails for just $14 with brunch. Variety, it's the spice of life.
