6 Fireplaces in Brooklyn to Keep You Warm and Fuzzy
Oh the weather, the weather, the weather. It's getting chilly, so bundle up in your best booze sweater and grab a seat next to one of these six fireplaces before you freeze to death.
Sheep Station:
Exposed brick, rustic-looking wood and a big fire in the middle of it. Park Slope's Sheep Station has all sorts of cozy, in-the-woods-while-in-the-city, going on. (149 4th Avenue, Brooklyn, 718-857-4337)
Tuffet:
There are fireplaces and then there are glorious warming contained infernos that call to mind bonfires. Tuffet has the latter on its back patio. (286 Graham Avenue, Brooklyn, 718-388-7434)
Daddy's:
Good prices (at least for the neighborhood), pinball and a little fireplace? Don't say this Williamsburg joint isn't a classy dive. (435 Graham Avenue, Brooklyn, 718-609-6388)
Union Pool:
There are lots of reasons to go to Union Pool. Sadly, when rowdy crowds pack the joint, the tacos and fire pit rarely seem good enough excuses for visiting this former hipster pick-up spot turned weird tourist attraction for people from out of town. Though the charm of its roaring fires still beckons, we recommend stopping in for day-drinking on a nippy afternoon. (484 Union Avenue, Brooklyn, 718-609-0484)
Shayz Lounge:
Whatever your gripes may be about the creative spelling employed here, all you really need to know is: fireplace + pool table + hot dogs = warm and fuzzy fun. (130 Franklin Street, Brooklyn, 718-389-3888)
Metropolitan:
One of the best known LGBTQ bars in the city, Metropolitan doesn't just have one fireplace, they have two. Plus, incredibly cheap drink specials and a photo booth. Not to mention the really nice fellow patrons who will run out and hand you your photos if you had too much of the former to remember the latter. (559 Lorimer Street, Brooklyn, 718-599-4444)
