New York Gift Cards That are as Nice to Give as They are to Receive |
3. Bierkraft (191 5th Ave.; 718-230-7600)
Why You Want It: Craft beer. Growlers to go. Cases of bottles to browse. Space to sit and drink while enjoying a sandwich as crafty as the brew.
The Recipient: Anybody who has kept you waiting while a beer list was pondered and reviewed, and who then made a choice that made the wait worthwhile. If the person has a taste for sandwiches that feature farmers’ market goods pickled in-house, then all the better.
A gloriously yeasty destination, Bierkraft has sixteen brews on tap. Like the beer list, the sandwich menu has seasonal specials. Guests can design their own sandwiches, collaborate with the staff on a creation, or give the person behind the counter permission to create compositions with ingredients and imagination. With stouts, IPAs, lagers, wheat beers, barrel-aged brews and more on tap, plus vintage bottles in the case, Bierkraft gives plenty of opportunities for a gift card-bearer to choose the present that’s most pleasing on any given day.
There are also tastings every Tuesday evening – around half a dozen beers, with talks from experts. If you get lucky, someone from a brewery may be there to speak. Whether the goal is filling a growler, taking a break or gaining an education, Bierkraft is a Brooklyn beer-lover’s paradise.
