White House Honey Ale: Sign the Petition to Release the Recipe
Last week we wrote about President Barack Obama taking the White House homebrew, Honey Ale, on the campaign trail with him. He gave a bottle to a lucky supporter in Ohio, and we’re likely to see more of this prop throughout the next seven weeks, as the President taps into Americans’ love of good suds.
It’s been reported that there are actually two flavors of the beer being made for the leader of the free world — White House Honey Blonde Ale and White House Honey Porter — and the brewmasters are using what they call “traditional brewing methods.” Which means that if we knew the recipe for these special beers, homebrewers around the country, and the world, could create their own versions.
However, the recipe is not yet public, so some aspiring beer lovers have started an official petition at whitehouse.gov to get the information released. The only hurdle is that the online request needs at least 25,000 digital signatures by September 17 if order to have any effect.
There are just 280 as of the time of writing, so if you’re interested in finding out what the White House does to make the top label of the land, head over and add your click. Free the beer!
