Where to Drink on New York's Lower East Side

by Hannah Warne on Mar 19, 2018 in Roundups

The Lower East Side is the epicenter of the Manhattan bar scene. With dives, craft cocktail joints and everything in between, you’ll always find something to satisfy your craving in this New York grungy-chic neighborhood.

Offered seven days a week from 5-10PM, the Verlaine happy hour is one of the best in the neighborhood. Their eclectic happy hour offerings include $6 lychee martinis, sangria and red and white wine along with $4 Narragansett beers. Paired with their Asian fusion food menu and late night hours, it makes this the perfect spot to start your evening—especially on Friday or Saturday night. (110 Rivington St.; 212-614-2492)

This Insta-famous restaurant and bar blew up on social media last summer, and for good reason. Rustic interiors, market lights and a muted pastel color palette all combine to make this Delancey Street spot as photogenic as it gets. But don’t be fooled by the impressive decor—they’ve still got wallet-friendly happy hour specials. They extensive oyster menu is discounted every day from 4-7PM, on offer for $1 each. Enjoy their craft cocktails or champagne and eat your fill of oysters without breaking the bank. (1 Delancey St.; 212-226-2510)

This no-frills Lower East Side establishment has one of the best happy hours in the area. $6 well drinks, beer and wine are available from 5-8PM daily, along with $1 oysters (up to two dozen). Head here for a solid after work option, or as the first stop on your way to the LES’s hopping nightlife scene. (115 Allen St.; 212-420-1115)

This Nantucket-themed bar will satisfy your cravings to be near the beach with nautical decor and seafood specials almost every night.  Sunday through Friday from 4-7PM, get $1 oysters, $5 beer, $8 wine and $9 well drinks. Or, stop in only on Mondays for $1 oysters all night long—plus their standard drink specials until 7PM. (77 Delancey St.; 646-580-5239)
