'World's Most Expensive' Vodka Bottle Stolen, Later Found Empty

The bar world was shaken last week when a bottle of vodka, reportedly the most expensive in the world at $1.3 million, was stolen from Cafe 33, a bar in Copenhagen, Denmark, Bloomberg reported. The high price-tag isn’t for the vodka that filled the bottle, but for the bottle itself, which is made of gold and silver with a diamond-studded topper. The owner of the bar, Brian Ingberg, had it on loan from a Russian businessman, but didn’t have it insured.
On January 5, three days after it was reported stolen, a member of the public found it a building site in Charlottenlund, about six miles north of Copenhagen. While most of the vodka was gone, the bottle was intact and undamaged, much to the joy of its caretaker, who said in an interview on Saturday that he assumed the thief was scared and left the bottle to be found. “It’s not the most fun item to possess,” he said.
The bottle’s real owner has offered to refill it with the Russian vodka that it once held. Inberg said of the whole ordeal that he was never truly worried: “I trust the god of vodka.”
