New York City's Best Fall Cocktails
aRoqa
Right Bank
Over in Chelsea, aRoqa put themselves on the map for innovative contemporary Indian cuisine and creative cocktail curiosities. This year, giving a nod to the summer, that was and apparently still is, and the Autumn we get glimpses of we recommend trying out the Right Bank. This cocktail is composed Rhum JM agricole, Illegal Mezcal, red pepper purée, chipotle-cinnamon agave syrup, orange bitters and a robust red wine float. (206 9th Ave.; 646-678-5471)
Traif
For a Warm October
Traif in Williamsburg is widely known for their contemporary small plates, and it has come up with the perfect compromise between summer and fall in a cocktail. For a Warm October features bourbon, a house made persimmon-ginger-pecan amaro, blackstrap rum, apple cider, sherry vinegar, and a splash of soda to keep you cool. (229 S4th St., Brooklyn; 347-844-9578)
P.S. Kitchen
XO
This veggie friendly restaurant located in Midtown West sees no reason why vegetables and cocktails can’t get along inside a shaker. The XO does not include pumpkin — rather, a sumptuous blend of smoked single malt whiskey, beet juice, orange juice, raspberry, and maple syrup. (246 W 48th St.; 212-651-7247)
Midnights
Basic Witch
Some might say a frozen cocktail in the fall is a crazy idea, but it just may be what the doctor ordered. Midnights in Williamsburg is the kind of gastropub that is never shy about taking artistic lengths, and the Basic Witch is anything but basic. Vodka is blended with pumpkin, espresso, and coconut milk for a espresso martini you’ve never had before. (149 N 6th St., Brooklyn; 718-384-6961)
Miss Ada
Dead Sea
Mediterranean cuisine and North American fall flavors collide at Miss Ada in Fort Green. We say go for the Dead Sea, new to the cocktail list for this year’s autumn season. The Dead Sea is comprised of rye, house made grenadine, dry vermouth, and lemon. (184 Dekalb Ave., Brooklyn; 917-909-1023)
