Walter’s
Located just along the edges of Downtown Brooklyn and Fort Greene, right near the park -- and a spinoff from a Williamsburg original -- Walter’s is a small bar and restaurant touting upscale American fare. Try the fresh gin Aviation (gin, maraschino, and lemon), the Bitter Margarita (tequila, campari, lime), or an Orange Manhattan (rye, punt e mes, orange bitters). Walter’s is cute and cozy with a classic feel -- you may want to call ahead to make sure there’s space. (166 Dekalb Ave., 718-488-7800)

Happy hours are from 4 to 7pm Monday through Friday -- get 2 beers and 1 margherita pizza for $20. If you go, try the Saison (7% -- described by the brewery as “fruit, spice”) or the peach Berliner Weisse (4.5% -- bright acidity, lime, sour). (141 Lawrence St., 718-858-0055)
Sociale
This Italian restaurant in Brooklyn Heights touts a cozy interior and a hearty wine list. Candlelit tables make for a romantic date night or intimate dinner and drinks outing with a few family members or a friend or two. If you go, try a cocktail -- perhaps the Spicy Margarita (Espolon reposado tequila, Aperola, simple syrup, hot sauce, and fresh lime juice), the Henry & Orange, a wine-based fruity cocktail named for the corner where the restaurant is located (fresh grapes, St. Germain, Sour Mix, Citron Vodka, Sparkling Rosé), or go full-fledged into the wine list and bring the rosé (Marquis de Tour) into the autumn months. (72 Henry St., 718-576-3588).
