Celebrate Fall 2017 With These New York City Festivals
Medieval Festival at Fort Tryon Park
Over at Fort Tryon Park on the first of October, a portal will open up delivering you to another time — a medieval time. Get ready for juggling, jousting, jesters, giant turkey legs, and flagons of ale. Come in period appropriate garb, or don’t — either way it’s a blast for friends or family. Admission is free, so really there’s no reason not to go. (Riverside Dr. to Broadway, Margaret Corbin Circle; 212-795-1600)
Fall AF Fest
The folks at Timeout New York will be at LIC Landing on October 1 hosting a fall fest to end all fall fests. All the usual suspects will be there, like apples, haystacks, and all things pumpkin. Aside from that, get ready to party with food catered by Dinosaur BBQ and beverages from Peroni Beer, Indaba Wines, and Rekorderlig Cider. Tickets are $30, which includes food and drinks. (52-10 Center Blvd., Queens)
Harvest Festival
Get down and dirty at the Harvest Festival on October 15 at Randall’s Island Park. The Urban Farm folks have been blessed with another bounty of produce this year and are eager to share it with you. This event will also feature live music, plenty of spectacular vendors, and face painting for the kids or the kid in you. Admission is free, so we’ll see you there. (Randall’s Island Park)
Boo at the Zoo
Every weekend from September 30th through October 29th The Bronx Zoo will be hosting a spectacularly spooky festival. Halloween hayrides, a haunted forest, and the appropriately morbid Extinct Animal Graveyard are just some of the attractions featured at the Zoo. Great for all ages, especially the little ones, Boo and the Zoo is a time to get a little wild. (2300 Southern Blvd., Bronx, New York; 718-220-5100)
Chili Pepper Festival
On October 1, the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens will be throwing a Chili Pepper Festival and you know it’s going to get spicy. This festival will cover all things chili peppers, from contests to hot sauces, desserts, and even potting your own chili pepper plant. This event will also feature live music and is friendly for all ages. (990 Washington Ave., Brooklyn; 718-623-7200)
