Frosé is a thing, and if you haven’t tried it by now it’s better late than never. Everyone who is anyone loves a glass of blushy rosé, but with the heat already skyrocketing in the big city, an upgrade with a little ice maybe just what the doctor ordered. Here are some of the best frosé and rosé cocktails in NYC to beat the heat.
Making frosé a cocktail menu staple is exactly what Williamsburg’s Extra Fancy has done. Known for their innovative craft cocktails and unpretentious seafood shack cuisine, Extra Fancy is already a perfect spot for the summer. For the summer, they’re serving up the iconic Frozémonade, which is so popular it’s available all year long. As you may have guessed, this little number is a blend of lemonade and rosé blitzed up and slushified, and is the drink to catch some rays in the spacious backyard with. Tribeca’s own Southern cuisine and crafty cocktail hotspot The Bennett has had their rosé cocktail named one of the best day drinking drinks around by none other than Playboy Magazine. The Strawberry Letter is a sweet, slightly tart, and delicate combination of strawberry, raspberry shrub, aperol, rosé and a splash of bubbles this cocktail is simple, easy, and dangerously drinkable. (134 W Broadway)
La Pecora Bianca is relatively new to the streets of Flatiron, yet they’ve come out swinging with some of the best market driven Italian cuisine around, four variations of a Negroni, a lovely wine list, and aperitifs on tap. This year, for the summer, they’re rolling lighter variation of a Negroni with rosé right in it. Sweet yet slightly bitter and acidic, the cocktail is comprised of Ford’s Gin, Lillet Rosé, campari, orange and grapefruit juice. (1133 Broadway; 212-498-9696)
Pizza Beach on the Lower East Side is that casual Cali spot that you’ll inevitably find yourself at this summer. This year Pizza Beach is doing a special on their summer frosé treats, and it’s buy one get one free. This deal is a no brainer because there’s no such thing as one glass of frosé. That drink you’ve seen on Instagram with the popsicle in it? This is that. On the roof of the Conrad Hotel in Battery Park you will find the Loopy Doopy Rooftop Bar, and their claim to fame is the Prosecco and Ice Pop cocktail. This year, rosé has been extended an invitation and is mixed with some bubbles and, of course, your choice of an alcoholic People’s Pop dipped right into the glass. (102 North End Ave.; 212-945-0100)
The Bed-Stuy bar with an immovable taco truck attached is geared up for the summer. Having two frozen drink machines in constant rotation over the summer and some of the best tacos in the area, Chilo’s knows what the summer is all about. Stop by and treat yourself to their frosé cocktail made with rosé, grapefruit, white rum, and honey. (323 Franklin Ave.; 718-676-5245)
