Hotel Delmano
Prelude to Spring
Williamsburg’s utterly chic cocktail bar is known for their exceptional raw bar and must-seek-out libations have concocted Spring in a glass. Featuring blanco tequila, banana liqueur, dimmi, lime, and celery bitters, the Prelude to Spring is perfect balance of playful and complex. Light and certainly refreshing, this cocktail is also grounded and demands to be taken seriously. (82 Berry St., Brooklyn; 718-387-1945)
Genuine Liquorette
Rhubarb Gimlet
Over at Genuine Liquorette, cocktail legend Eben Freeman has made his own adaptation of the humble gimlet just for spring, and it meets all the requirements necessary for a delicious drink. Created with the standard line up of gin, lime, and sugar, Freeman tips in a little rhubarb for bitterness and adds a little aperol for blush. (191 Grand St.; 646-726-4633)
Brandy Bramble
Faro is a hole-in-the-wall Bushwick spot (which just got their first Michelin Star last year) that, upon entry, opens up to great cuisine and phenomenal drinks. For spring, they’re serving up a beautiful rendition of a cocktail classic: The Bramble. This particular bramble features brandy, blackberry liqueur, lemon, cinnamon, and fresh blackberries on top. The brandy is so effective in keeping away the chill and the freshness of this cocktail is so on point you may need to get at least two and no one will judge. (436 Jefferson St., Brooklyn; 718-381-8201)
The Skylark
The Stack
Brand new to the scene is the Skylark, a three level rooftop lounge perched above New York’s garment district. Brought to you by the infamous Johnny Swet, Skylark’s cocktail program is set center stage and demands attention. For spring, you cannot go wrong by ordering The Stack, a luscious combination of bourbon, brandy, aperol, and lavender. It’s flowery, yet stiff - it’s the perfect drink to sip through April showers. (200 W 39th St.; 212-257-4577)
Analogue
Black Thai Option
Whimsical cocktails meet sultry jazz at this West Village lounge. What better way to shed the winter blues than to enjoy some live jazz and sip on a sumptuous drinks, in which all special syrups and ingredients are made in house? Analogue has many cocktails on their list right now, but for spring we recommend the exotic Black Thai Option. A beautiful combination of vodka, basil, ginger and smoked sea salt, it’s got drinkability yet enough depth to shed those winter blues. (19 W 8th St.; 212-432-0200)
The Summit Bar
Lions in London
Brought to you by Greg Seider, an industry mixologist vet, The Summit Bar of Alphabet city is a place one simply must stop by if one is at all interested in cocktail culture. Never afraid to flair up his creations, Greg’s sense of drama is manifested in these drinks, and they are nothing short of special. For those rainy spring days, check out the Lions in London, a sultry blend of rooibos tea infused gin, aperol, sweet vermouth, and orange bitters. (133 Avenue C; 347-465-7911)
