Long-Standing Bar Peter McManus May Be Closing Down

Peter McManus, which has stood on the corner of 7th Ave. and 19th St. since 1932, is well known for being a cozy and friendly atmosphere to have a few drinks and enjoy a great burger, but rumors are swirling that say it’s all coming to a close.
According to a report by Vanishing New York, the building McManus is in, including the apartments above it, has been purchased and is slated for renovations, which would cast this comfortable haunt out.
There’s a Facebook group, which is closed, called Coalition to save #McManus. At press time, there were 778 people interested in stopping the new from replacing the old.
Of course it’s possible, should the rumors be true, that McManus could set up elsewhere. Here’s to hoping Peter McManus is successful no matter what happens.
