A local Brewery favorite, the Brooklyn Brewery is at it again with their seasonal selection of malty, hoppy goodness. The Insulated Dark Lager is fashioned after a German Munich style with roasted cafara and pilsner malts. With immense drinkability for a dark beer, this lager is perfect for shielding against those biting winds and slushy streets. (ABV 5.6%)
Sure, the name is a bit moody, but winter in NYC isn’t all Rockefeller Center and department store window decorations. Rich and warm, this Russian Imperial Stout boasts bittersweet chocolate, plum, berry, and roasted malts. This big bodied beer is smooth as it is soothing to the soul. (ABV 8.5%)
This brew is a collaboration effort between Finback Brewing of Queens, NY and Zagovor Brewery of Russia. It’s a big beer and is made to keep you warm against all and anything the winter winds may bring. Robust and full of toffee, caramel, and coffee notes, this may be the only thing you need to drink this winter. (ABV 8.4%)
Available as a large format, this beer from Transmitter Brewing is 750ml of immense complexity and richness. The roundness of the malts are complemented by subtle fruit from fermentation with belgian yeast, and the oaky-sweetness from rum barrel aging but relaxes the ale and takes its flavors to another level. (ABV 12%)
Sixpoint Brewery is a NYC staple for beer enthusiasts. This winter, dig into some of the deeper cuts from the Sixpoint team. 5Beans is an experimental culmination of coffee, cacao, vanilla, and cardamom that’s sure to satisfy beer and baked goods cravings alike. (ABV 10%)
Fear City from Bridge & Tunnel Brewery is a barley wine style beer, and if you’ve never experienced a barley wine, they are the perfect for the biting winter season. Being by nature a very strong ale, this brew demands to be treated with dignity that means no chugging. Delivering a sumptuous bouquet of rose, dark fruit and grain Fear City is a must try for the winter season. (ABV 12%)
