Where to Find Alcoholic Slushies in NYC
With the relentless, unforgiving heat of summer, New Yorkers deserve and end-of-the-day treat that’s tasty, and perhaps more importantly cold and refreshing. In fact, how about we just skip to straight up frozen? The fact is, you’re never too old to enjoy a slushie, and if you think that you are, here’s a couple spots that will definitely change your mind.
Mother’s Ruin
This infamous Nolita industry chill zone has a slushie cocktail on their menu year round. The flavor is always changing, but some of their number 1 hits include a frozen Negroni that is sure to please. (18 Spring St.)
Roberta’s
Roberta’s is classic, delicious, and iconic — even Jay Z and Beyonce are known regulars. However, for this frozen treat, head to the tiki bar in the back. While the frozen drink selection is always changing, the tiki bar has recently been offering a frozen Hemingway daiquiri, a slushie rosé, and a frozen take on a gin and juice. (261 Moore St., Brooklyn; 718-417-1118)
Alta Linea
This al fresco Italian eatery located along the beautiful High Line in Chelsea offers two inviting frozen cocktails: their frozen Negroni and their lemon sgroppino featuring limoncello, vodka, and prosecco. (180 10th Ave.; 212-929-3888)
Skinny Dennis
The popular southern swing bar in Williamsburg has discovered the beauty of coffee and whiskey in a slushie. Stop in for the live music, the crunch of peanut shells underfoot, and definitely get Willie’s Frozen Coffee, commonly referred to as “that coffee thing.” (152 Metropolitan Ave., Brooklyn)
The Johnson’s
This popular Bushwick dive bar is known for their signature frozen drink, the Painkiller — rum pineapple, orange juice, and coconut — and it’s only eight bucks. (369 Troutman St., Brooklyn; 718-417-7100)
Baby’s All Right
A Williamsburg icon, Baby’s All Right is well known as a music venue, but the food and drink are quite a show in their own right. Their signature frozen cocktail is called the Pink Baby and consists of grapefruit, vodka, and mate. If you come in during happy hour, these pink babies are three dollars a pop, and even if you don’t make happy hour, they’re still just eight bucks. (146 Broadway, Brooklyn; 718-599-5800)
