This Late Night L.A. Restaurant is Serving Boozy Bowls of Classic Kids Cereal
Imagine a cafe where you sit down and receive a complimentary coffee and a copy of the LA Times to flip through before ordering your breakfast. It’s like any other cafe, except that it’s midnight, and the French toast you’re about to order is loaded with pear brandy. It’s the Nighthawk Breakfast Bar, and it’s brilliant.
It’s shocking that no one has come up with a breakfast themed bar until now. There’s something about breakfast food that is perfect after (or during) a night of drinking, and Nighthawk, the newest project from club owner Jeremy Fall, is taking full advantage of that. It’s only open from 8 PM — 2 AM from Wednesday through Saturday, and it serves up a creative array of breakfast foods, many of which are covered in fried eggs.
As far as drinks go, the bar has a list of classics — French 75s, Daiquiris, Boulevardiers, Last Words — but what you’re really here for is breakfast drinks, and we’re not talking mimosas. Try boozy cereal milk — like the leftovers from your bowl as a child, but packed with booze. There’s Fruity Pebbles milk with gin, Cocoa Puffs milk with brandy, and honey-nut milk with bourbon, and they all come in milk jars with a straw. There’s also mezcal-laced coffee if you’re looking for a more bracing and caffeinated drink to finish (or start) your night. All of it is served in a dark and intimate cafe setting.
Boozy late-night breakfast—it just makes sense.
