Oskar Blues to Open Brewery in Austin, Texas in 2016
Oskar Blues is slowly and steadily taking over the craft beer and live music scene one city at a time. The 18-year-old Colorado-based brewery recently opened a new production facility in Brevard, NC, to take Blues brews nationwide. Now Oskar Blues is opening a brewery and taproom in famed music city Austin, TX. Expected to open in April of 2016, this new place will showcase thriving music scene Austin is known for along with a taproom of beers made onsite.
“North Carolina and Colorado are filled with amazing communities and experiences mingled with live music and Fuh-CAN great craft beer scenes,” says OB Founder and the brewery’s heart and soul Dale Katechis. “The passion and rebellious nature of Austin locals, along with the food, craft beer, and live music scenes create a vibe that already feels like home.”
The recently secured space will house a 50,000
Says Katechis, “We continue to look at options to grow our brewery to the next level and the experience of opening a smaller, intimate taproom and brewery on a grassroots level in Brevard was a hell of a lot of fun. As we grow, it’s important to find ways to stay small, engaged, and intimate within the communities we want to spend our time in.”
Oskar Blues has already taken over the Rocky Mountains of Colorado and Pisgah Forest of North Carolina with projects like B Stiff & Sons Old Fashioned Root Beer, Hotbox Coffee Rasters, North Carolina’s REEB Ranch and handmade mountain bikes with REEB Cycles. Austin, where live music rules, is another way of keeping it fun and growing at the same time.
