5 Bubbly Cocktails to Sparkle with in New York for the Holidays
Nothing says “let’s celebrate” more than something bubbly. And in the spirit of the holidays, here are some of New York’s most fun (and palatable) sparkly cocktails to celebrate with.
The St. Hilaires at the Lambs Club
Crack of Dawn at the Third Man
Named after a classic noir, the Third Man combines Zubrowka Bison Grass Vodka (a herbal vodka from Poland) with Prosecco, St. Germain and a little dash of apple for good measure in its Crack of Dawn ($12)—a solid fall to winter staple. (116 Avenue C.)
Up in Smoke at the Shanty
New York Distilling Company’s attached bar is a great source for inspiration both in and out of the bar. See the copper drums used in the process and then taste some consistently creative drinks. The Up in Smoke ($12) combines mescal, lime, Velvet Falernum, Parfait Amour, Doc’s Cider Reduction, Bittermen’s Mole Bitters, and Prosecco to sparkling effect. (79 Richardson St., 718-878-3579)
Charlemagne’s Cup at the Bourgeois Pig
With multiple champagne punches on offer ($40) fit for the whole table—and enough to get two to four people sufficiently liquored up—the Bourgeois Pig offers bubble in big doses. Charlemagne’s Cup combines sweet, sour and even a dash of savory with Lillet Blanc, orange cordial, orange bitters, chocolate mole bitters, lemon and champagne. (111 E 7th St., 212-475-2246)
The John Lee Hooker at the Summit Bar
A sure-fire alternative for the sparkling wine adverse, the John Lee Hooker ($12) is no wimpy beer cocktail that tastes more like someone accidently tossed in some orange juice in the wrong glass. There’s Peet Monster Scotch, Buffalo Trace Bourbon, lemon, orange and sasparilla bitters and then it’s all wrapped up with Lagunitas’s Hop Stoopid beer. Not for the faint of heart. (133 Avenue C.)
