Louro Introduces Killer New Happy Hour in the West Village
West Village hot spot Louro recently launched new after-work and after-dinner happy hours with something for everyone. With drink specials, deals on oysters and petiscos (free bites served at the bar with drink orders) and has to be one of the best happy hours around, as well as one of the most varied.
We're betting your first visit won’t be your last, since you can swing by between 5:30–7:30 PM or anytime after 10 PM on Tuesday–Sunday to take advantage of $8 cocktails (reduced from $12–$13), $6 wines, $4 beers and $1 oysters. It's worth going for the cocktails, for our money, since they're fabulously and meticulously crafted by mixologist Mayur Subbarao of Amor y Amargo, Dram and Bittermens Bitters.
Must-tries include the signature Arctic Cynar (chili-infused rye, Cynar, lemon, grapefruit, honey); the Necromancer (white absinthe, Lillet blanc, elderflower, lemon, juniper); Eli Cash (tequila, rhubarb, honey, cucumber, lime); and the Hemingway Royale (rum, grapefruit, lime, sparkling wine). If all that isn’t reason enough to visit, Louro chef David Santos takes cue from his Portuguese heritage and offers petiscos, free (FREE) bites at the bar with drink orders. They change daily, and they're all delicious. What you might be lucky enough to run into: seafood fritters with smoked paprika aioli; clams with white wine and summer truffles; Portuguese disco fries; escabeche of sardines and vegetables with crostini; cod and olive frittata; chorizo and potatoes, and more.
