Where to Celebrate World Gin Day in New York City

by Kerry Jepsen on Nov 6, 2017 in Roundups

On November 7, we’ll celebrate World Gin Day, and here’s where you should go in New York City to raise a glass to this eternally popular spirit.

Bathtub Gin
Chelsea is home to one of the best known, not-so-secret-speakeasies, Bathtub Gin. Try the Gin-gin Cup, made with Nolet’s Silver Dry Gin, lemon, wildflower honey, pressed ginger, lavender extract, sage, and topped with chilled Perrier (132 9th Ave.; 646-559-1671)

The Winslow
This upscale British pub and eatery located in Gramercy is so obsessed with gin, they even have a club that hosts gin tasting events. On World Gin Day, stop by and sip on the Aged Before Beauty, made with Few Barrel Aged Gin, Chartreuse, St. Germain, nutmeg, green tea, and lemon. (243 E 14th St.; 212-777-7717)

Cata
Gin and tonics are all the rage in Spain, and Cata, a Spanish-inspired in the Lower East Side provides modern Spanish tapas to pair with their gin focused cocktail list, which of course features a myriad of renditions on the classic gin and tonic. We could recommend something specific, but you really can’t go wrong with any of the gin & tonics. (245 Bowery, New York, NY; 212-505-2282)

Pegu Club
At the forefront of today’s cocktail innovations, Pegu Club in Soho is dedicated to delivering the finest cocktails made just the way you like them. As it happens, Pegu Club is also the name of a cocktail from the 1930s involving gin, orange curaçao, lime and bitters. Stop by the Pegu Club and try their namesake cocktail or their popular Earl Grey martini featuring Earl Grey infused gin and lemon. (77 W Houston St.; 212-473-7348)

Apotheke
Apotheke in Chinatown is an apothecary themed bar that features multiple gin cocktails. While the menu, which is categorized by ailment relief, features a lot of intriguing gin based cocktail we recommend a gin experience like no other by ordering the Siren’s Call: Gin, roasted seaweed, cucumber, squid ink, ginger, candy pearl, and black smoked lava salt. (9 Doyers St.; 212-406-0400)

Highlands
While most people think of Scotch when it comes to Scotland, the entire world celebrates gin, and Scotland is certainly no exception. Highlands in the West Village is a Scottish themed gastropub offering bites from the motherland and curious cocktails to go with them. Highlands made it onto this list because of their Perfect Gin and Tonic - a perfect combination of Hendrix’s Gin, tonic, and cucumber infused ice. (150 W 10th St.; 212-229-2670)
