Keurig and AB InBev Partner to Create a Homebrew Appliance

It seems like every week AB InBev is in the news with a bright new idea or stunt, and this time Keurig, wants in on the action. According to CNN Money, the two companies have partnered to research and design a countertop appliance for single-serve alcoholic beverages.

The companies are looking to sell the product in North America and are currently focused on creating a device that could produce drinks such as beer, cocktails and mixers. The technology would come from the Keurig Kold machine, which is no longer on the market.

The Kold was meant to compete with the SodaStream, but launched with poor results. Keurig needs a hit product after the Kold, so that’s where AB InBev comes in. However, SodaStream seems to be a few steps ahead of them with their homebrew device, the Beer Bar, which was released in parts of Europe in May 2016 — and the company plans to distribute it wider in 2017.  

So looks like either way, we may be able to brew the secret recipe of Bud Light in the comfort of our own homes sometime soon.
