The Best Bars for Wings in NYC

by Jessica Klein on Feb 22, 2016 in Roundups

There are few foods that go as well with beer as chicken wings. From Korean to barbeque, New York’s bars and restaurants offer a wide selection of beer’s best friend. Here are some of the stand-outs:

Offering spicy wings and a well-rounded, if small, selection of beers on tap, Mighty Quinn’s is all about the smoky flavor and relaxed environment. The pulled pork might be a better choice than the wings here, but that’s not saying anything bad about the wings. (103 2nd Ave.; 212-677-3733)

Though it’s not a bar and serves no alcohol, Kychon makes this list because their chicken wings are too good to ignore. Buy a six-pack and order some grilled, honey, or Kychon-style wings and you will not regret your decision. (319 5th Ave.; 212-725-9292)

A regular lunch spot for many of the working people of Flatiron, Hill Country serves up some calorie-dense fried chicken, wings included. Fast-food speed combined with a draught beer selection make this place worth visiting midday or if you’re craving wings all by yourself. (1123 Broadway; 212-257-6446)

Any from a selection of whiskey-based cocktails can accompany your smoked wings here. If you go at the right time, jazz music will serve as a backdrop for your meal. (116 E 27th St.; 212-447-7733)

This Harlem restaurant, which also boasts locations in about nine other cities (plus Brooklyn), has a comprehensive BBQ menu and wing glazes to match. From Hoisin Sesame to “Devil’s Duel,” the hottest of the bunch, all of the wings are delicious and pair perfectly with any of the establishment’s twenty-plus beers on tap. (700 W 125th St.; 212-694-1777)

Cheap wings come in a variety of sweet, sour, and spicy flavors at this Philly-themed bar. Try the “secret family recipe,” called Krazy Kate’s Wings, if you’re looking for extra spice. Partake of the full bar and cheer for your favorite sports teams…especially if they’re from Pennsylvania. (39 Greenwich Ave.; 212-229-2171)

Old Town Bar deserves its name, as the bar itself survived prohibition and the men’s bathroom boasts urinals that are over one hundred years old. The Buffalo wings are classic, the booze reasonably priced. (45 E 18th St.; 212-529-6732)
