Soak up the Sun at These Bars With Outdoor Seating

Now that you’ve shed your winter parka, it’s time to show off those pale arms that have been hiding out beneath! So that the transition from bedroom to beach isn’t too harsh, make your way outside slowly by drinking at some of these bars, first. If the great outdoors get too overwhelming for you, you can always retreat back inside to the safety of the bar stools.

Crown Victoria
This Williamsburg bar boasts a huge outdoor area, great for parties and beer pong (though you might have to BYOB—balls, that is). Even though it’s summer, whisky might be the drink of choice here, with an extensive selection of Irish, rye and single malts. (60 S 2nd St., Brooklyn; 917-719-6072)

Bua
With festive happy hour deals and cocktails that go for around $10, it’s hard to avoid this bar when it gets warm out. Located on St. Marks, the outdoor seating offers prime people watching real estate. (122 St. Marks Pl.; 212-979-6276)

Forrest Point
On a corner near warehouse territory, Bushwick, Forrest Point feels like an enclave even though seating is basically on the street. Also, they have an amazing marshmallow-y cast iron s’mores dessert that doesn’t pair perfectly with alcohol, but also isn’t mutually exclusive from a night of drinking outdoors. (970 Flushing Ave., Brooklyn; 718-366-2742)

Berry Park
Rooftop seating by McCarren Park gives you a sunny place to drink surrounded by greenery. Brunch is a thing here too, with Elderflower Bellinis and Bloody Marys going for $9 and Bavarian pretzels always on the menu. (4 Berry St., Brooklyn; 718-782-2829)

Ninth Ward
This bar can get pretty packed, but the sun-drenched, vine-covered area out back provides a great respite for the dark hues of Ninth Ward’s interior. You’ll feel like you’re not in New York when drinking your buy-one-get-one-free happy hour special by the fountain. (180 2nd Ave.; 212-979-9273)

Entwine
Located in a very quiet corner of the West Village, Entwine has an excellent patio where you can drink intricate and delicious, if not cheap, cocktails. It’s cozy, but that’s okay, because it’s not exactly a magnet for the drunken hordes. (765 Washington St.; 212-727-8765)

Ambrose Hall
Maybe it’s a little corny for a New Yorker to spend the day on South Street Seaport, but if the weather’s right, who’s to judge? This beer hall sprawls across picnic tables near the water, letting you ring in spring the right way. (18 Fulton St.; 212-785-0018)
